Generations of Leadership

Following Pipe Major Dalzell's retirement, the musical leadership of the Caledonian passed through the hands of several dedicated musicians.

Donald A. Clark was elected Pipe Major and served until March 1993, when Andrew Worrall assumed musical leadership. Worrall had returned home after playing with the Grade I Toronto & District Pipe Band, bringing his experience, knowledge, and musical ability to the Caledonian.

Following Worrall's tenure, William Dalzell once again led the band until the next Annual General Meeting, when Donald Thom was elected Pipe Major.

Thom served for two years and was followed by James Cormier. In December 1998, Paul Thom, brother of Donald Thom, was elected Pipe Major and served until 2008.

Donald Thom was again elected in 2008, followed by his son Jeremy Thom at the 2009 Annual General Meeting.

In 2012, Liam Freill was elected Pipe Major, beginning the current era of the band's musical leadership.

The band has also been led on parade by a long line of Drum Majors, including Thomas Gable, William J. McKee, William L. Kerwin, James Garnett, Robert G. Little, Donald Sprague, and Ryan Henderson.
