100 Years & Counting

By 2008, the Caledonian had achieved something remarkable: 100 years of continuous history.

The band predates both the formation of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Legion and is older than the majority of pipe bands in North America.

To celebrate its centennial, the band hosted an evening at the Loch Lomond Villa Auditorium, its regular practice facility at the time.

The celebration brought together current and former members, family, friends, and special guests for an evening of music, refreshments, historical displays, and artifacts representing a century of Caledonian history.

Congratulatory messages arrived from civic, provincial, and federal representatives, as well as the Commanding Officer of HMCS Brunswicker.

One hundred years after six pipers gathered in Saint John, their band was still playing.
