The Saint John Caledonian Pipe Band exists to preserve, grow, and share the traditions of piping, drumming, and Scottish culture through music, education, performance, and community.
We are committed to developing musicians of all experience levels, passing our traditions to the next generation, and creating a welcoming place where people can learn, perform, compete, and belong.
Through musical excellence, mentorship, community engagement, and performance, we strive to keep the sound and spirit of the pipes and drums thriving in Saint John, across New Brunswick, and beyond.
More Than a Century of Pipes & Drums
The Saint John Caledonian Pipe Band has been part of the musical and cultural fabric of Saint John since 1908, when six pipers came together with a shared vision to establish a Highland pipe band. More than a century later, that tradition is still going strong.
Our history has taken us from local parades and Scottish gatherings to military and naval service, major ceremonial occasions, Highland Games across Canada and the United States, and even the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Through two World Wars, changing affiliations, new generations of musicians, and more than a few changes of uniform, the sound of the Caledonian has endured.
Today, we proudly carry that legacy forward as the Saint John Caledonian Pipe Band. We are an active, growing and competitive band committed to developing pipers and drummers, sharing Scottish musical traditions with our community, and building a strong future for piping and drumming in Saint John and beyond.
The name has evolved. The uniforms have changed. The faces are different. But since 1908, the music has never stopped.

Our Board of Directors provides the strategy, stewardship, and organizational leadership that keeps SJCPB moving forward. From finances and fundraising to sponsorships, public relations, equipment, governance, and community partnerships, the Board works behind the scenes to build a strong, sustainable future for the Band.

Elected by our Voting Members, the Board ensures our resources are managed responsibly, our organization continues to grow, and everything we do stays connected to our purpose, our Members, and our community.

Led by our Pipe Major and Drum Sergeant, SJCPB’s Musical Leadership is at the heart of what you hear on the field. They set the Band’s musical direction and standards while leading repertoire, instruction, tuning, player development, ensemble performance, and competition preparation.

Their focus goes beyond the next performance. Through instruction, mentorship, and high musical standards, our leadership is developing musicians and building a stronger Band for the seasons ahead.
